It is important that you buy the right iPhone charger. For example, there are many cheap iPhone chargers online. In principle, these iPhone chargers will work, but they cannot charge your iPhone quickly, because they cannot provide enough power. This will ultimately ensure that your iPhone charges very slowly and of course nobody wants that.
Recently, a law was passed by the EU, which requires all new electronic devices to be equipped with a USB-C connection. This also applies to the new iPhones, so from the iPhone 15 and newer, iPhones will also be equipped with a USB-C connection. This is a major improvement for the user, because it allows you to charge almost all your devices with 1 cable. This means that you no longer need a whole drawer full of cables to charge all your devices. In principle, 1 cable is even enough. However, it can sometimes be nice to charge multiple devices at the same time, then you need multiple cables. For example, there are iPhone chargers with multiple ports. With this you can charge multiple iPhones or an iPhone and an iPad.
To charge your iPhone via a wall socket, you need 2 things. A power adapter and a cable. The power adapter ensures that the power can be used by your phone. This adapter often has some kind of connection. With new iPhone chargers, this is almost always a USB-C connection. This is because USB-C can offer faster speeds. When you want to buy a new iPhone charger, there are a number of important aspects to pay attention to. The most important is the amount of watts the charger can offer. For example, there are chargers that can only offer 15 watts of power. With this, an iPhone 15 Pro Max would charge very slowly and that is of course not desirable. If you want a charger that can always offer enough watts for your iPhone, you only need to buy a charger that can offer 30W or more. This is very different for Android phones. Some Android phones can charge with 100W.
In addition to the power that the charger can offer, the number of ports is also important to take into account. For example, if you only have 1 socket, but want to charge multiple devices at the same time, it is very useful to have multiple ports. Finally, you need to pay attention to both the connection of your phone and the connection of the charger. For example, some chargers only have a USB-C connection. If you have a USB to lightning cable for your phone, it will not fit on your charger and you will have to buy a new cable. Fortunately, most cables and chargers now have a USB-C connection. Of course, you can also simply use this charger as an iPhone charger. For example, you could charge a Macbook and iPhone at the same time at the optimal speed. Want to use your charger to fast charge your iPhone? Then you need an iPhone fast charger. Different iPhones require different wattages to fast charge. For example, the iPhone 15 Pro Max can fast charge with 27W, but the iPhone 12 can only charge with 20W. Many standard chargers offer around 20W, which means that these are not fast chargers for the iPhone 15 Pro Max. Want a fast charger for your iPhone 15 Pro Max? Then you will need a charger that can offer 27W or more. For example, the MOJOGEAR Charge + can offer 65W. With this charger, you can even fast charge 2 iPhone 15 Pro Max phones at the same time.
As long as the charger can provide the right wattage, you don't need an original charger. This means that you can also buy chargers that are not made by Apple. Apple asks a lot of money for their original chargers, so it can save a lot of money to buy a charger from another brand.
An iPhone charger can be considered a fast charger if the charger can provide enough watts for the phone to charge as quickly as possible. This varies per iPhone, as newer iPhones require higher wattages than older models. For example, an iPhone 14 Pro Max can charge at 27W, while an iPhone 14 can only charge at 20W.
