A breath-taking hike, a cool mountain bike ride or skiing down a tricky slope: these are all cool moment to capture on camera. These videos are fun to share on your social media or with your friends and family, but they are also cool memories of your adventures to look back on later.

How do you make sure that you capture your adventures as good as possible? We have some tips for you to do so. This way you can prepare yourself and enjoy your adventures, while your camera does the rest of the work and capture it all.

A unique perspective

Vary your perspective for a cool action video. It produces unique, spectacular images that make your video stand out.

Do you film with a GoPro? Easily mount it on a tripod, on your helmet or on your chest. For the real dare devils, you can always mount your GoPro on your surfboard or snowboard. Let your creativity run wild, because nothing is too crazy.

Mount your smartphone, camera or GoPro on an extra long selfie stick for a unique perspective. The long stick allows you to capture more of the environment during your hike or even create drone-like images.

Below you will find a number of accessories that work perfectly with the latest GoPro Hero 12 Black.

Choose your equipment carefully

It is important to consider in advance what equipment you need. Whether you're going to climb a mountain or take a long bike ride, you don't want to be limited by too much and too heavy gear. Moreover, you naturally want to be able to access your equipment quickly. Then an overcrowded bag with unnecessary gear is not ideal.

First consider what kind of camera you are taking with you. Are you going for your smartphone, an action cam or a compact camera? Also think about the accessories you need. For a hike, this may be a selfie stick, tripod and an extra lens. For a ski descent, a screen protector and waterproof case are a must-take so that you protect your GoPro from the snow.

To keep your gear as protected as possible, it is recommended to use a water-repellent bag. In the mountains, on the slopes or simply in the Netherlands, the weather can change at a moment's notice and it is nice that your equipment is protected against a few drops. The WiWu Alpha Crossbody is water-repellent and easy to wear as a hip bag or crossbody.

Bring enough power

Of course, you don't want your battery to drain during your challenging mountain climb. There you are at the top of the mountain... That is why it is always wise to take a power bank with you, so that you can charge your smartphone anytime and anywhere. Curious which power bank suits you best? View them here.

Do you film with a GoPro? Then it is advisable to take an extra battery with you. Or charge your GoPro during use using a special battery door and a power bank. The battery door contains an opening, allowing you to connect a USB-C cable to the GoPro and charge it while using it with a power bank.

Don't make your videos too long

You probably took a lot of beautiful images after returning. To do full justice to the images, you can edit the images into a cool video.

A video of maximum 2 to 3 minutes is ideal. This way the video doesn't become long-winded and remains fun to watch. Do you want to share your images on social media? Then go for an even shorter video of maximum 30 seconds.

This can be done via your smartphone on apps such as VN Video Editor (for Android and iOS ) and iMovie (for iOS). Already have experience with installation? Then choose programs such as LumaFusion (for iOS and macOS) or desktop apps such as Adobe Premiere Pro .
